It’s official. Anna’s done with dance.
Long story short, her heart wasn’t in it anymore. She wanted some time off. She offered to finish the season since she had committed to them, but they gracefully forgave her. On Wednesday she’s going to say a very tearful goodbye to her friends, but that’s it. She’s hung up her tap/ballet/hip-hop/jazz shoes and her paws for at least a year.
Anna started dancing the day after her 3rd birthday. I put her in a class through the school district because I wanted her to learn how to behave in a classroom before school started. She ADORED it. When the opportunity for team arrived, we agreed because she loved being on stage in the center spotlight with all her heart. We told her she could dance as long as she enjoyed it, as long as it was fun for her. Through the sore muscles, the long hours, the catty/mean girls, she loved the dance. All the teachers would say that she has such “SPIRIT” for dance. They could see her love. Now this season, they could tell her heart wasn’t in it. She had time off over Christmas break to be an 8 year old kid. She played, slept late and ate whatever she wanted. No buns, no leotards, no stage makeup. She enjoyed it.
With that, we are done. It’s time to move on and try new things.
